Oliver Nias is a BIFA-nominated filmmaker from London, known for smart, concept-driven films.


Oliver is the writer-director of mystery thriller The ReturnThe 35mm-shot feature film was nominated for The Discovery Award at the British Independent Film Awards, Best UK Feature at Raindance Film Festival and winner of Best Screenplay at the Top Indie Film Awards. He directed thriller The Speechwriter and produced dark comedy Round Robin, short films that were Official Selection for Raindance and Aesthetica Short Film Festival respectively. He is managed by Adam Kolbrenner's Lit Entertainment Group for Film & TV.

Oliver founded commercial production company Obstacle Films in 2012 through which he and many collaborators have made hundreds of short form films, ads and commercials. Obstacle is known as the home of film with heart due to its focus on emotion and its caring approach to production processes.

Oliver started making films while studying English Literature at University College London.



Oliver Nias is in development with a slate of feature films. He is attending Berlin, Cannes and London Film Festival 2024.
